The letters PC are the abbreviation for Personal Computer but it is also recently became the abbreviation for the words ‘Politically Correct’. Someone who is being ‘politically correct’, believes that language and actions that could be offensive to others, especially those relating to sex, gender, and race, should be avoided.
In a word, it is compromise of free speech, so as not to cause hurt feelings of the carnal flesh.
But what is correct?
What is right?
Has being ‘Politically Correct’ as far as the worlds standards are concerned, caused Ichabod in the Body of Messiah?
The term Ichabod is found in two places in the Bible,
1 Samuel 4:21 and 14:3.

Ichabod was a person, he was the son of Phinehas and the grandson of Eli, the priest of the Lord in Shiloh.
Then she named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!”or “Where is the glory?” because the ark of God had been captured by the Philistines and because of her father-in-law and her husband. 1 Sam. 4:21 for she said, “Israel’s glory is gone.”
Strongs # 350 I-kabod: Ichabod
Original Word: אִי־כָבוֹד
Part of Speech: Proper Name Masculine
Transliteration: Iy-kabowd
Pronunciation: ee-kah-BOHD
Phonetic Spelling: (ee-kaw-bode’)
KJV: I-chabod
NASB: Ichabod, Ichabod’s
Word Origin: [from H336 (אִי – Island)
1. (there is) no glory, i.e. inglorious
2. Ikabod, a son of Phineas
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance
I-chabod
From ‘iy and kabowd; (there is) no glory,
i.e. Inglorious; Ikabod, a son of Phineas — I-chabod.
The name Ichabod is framed as a lament, an anguished cry that the visible, covenantal shekinah glory of the LORD has withdrawn.
It signals crisis:
divine honor eclipsed,
spiritual vitality drained,
and national destiny imperiled.
Whenever the name surfaces, it functions as a divine signpost, warning of the consequences of unfaithfulness and the urgency of restored worship.
This is very serious, especially if any of these attributes are reflected in the Body of Messiah today.

In 1 Samuel 4 we read that the historical setting was the turbulent transition from the period of the judges to the rise of kingship in Israel. Eli’s priestly house had grown negligent and corrupt, and Israel attempted to use the Ark like a ‘good luck charm’ in battle against the Philistines. The defeat at Ebenezer, the death of Eli’s sons, and the capture of the Ark of the Covenant preceded a nationwide shock. It was Phinehas’ widowed wife who memorialized that moment into her son’s identity as she died while giving birth to him.
About forty years later, Ichabod’s brother Ahitub served as high priest, and Ichabod himself is remembered only in the genealogical scripture of 1 Samuel 14:3. The fact that there is a reference to him, is a reminder that the events which occurred at the time of his birth had not been quickly repaired; the nation was still having to deal with the consequences of their previous failures.
1 Samuel 4:21 highlights birth in the midst of tragedy;
the name Ichabod embodies
the dread of the nation realizing that God’s favor and presence had left.

1 Samuel 14:3 is a genealogical anchor, the mention of it, preserves the memory of the prior crisis, even as new challenges arise under Saul’s reign.
There were also spiritual implications connected to these events: First, regarding the Holiness of God’s Presence. The capture of the Ark of the Covenant reveals that religious objects cannot take the place of sincere obedience. The glory of the Lord will not and cannot be manipulated.
Secondly, there is the need for Covenant accountability because the entire covenant community was put in danger due to leadership failures in the priesthood; that collective responsibility is encapsulated in the name Ichabod.
Thirdly, although “the glory has departed,” the account moves toward restoration. In 1 Samuel 6–7, we read of the return of the Ark, Samuel and his prophetic ministry, and finally David’s desire to build a house for the LORD.
There is hope beyond judgement and the heart-rending cry of Ichabod is not our Heavenly Father’s last word.

Ezekiel 10 depicts another departure of glory from a defiled sanctuary, linking priestly corruption with national exile. However, Ezekiel 43 and Haggai 2:7–9 anticipate a future, and a greater in-dwelling of glory. These prophetic images come together in John 1:14 when “The Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We have seen His glory…” The Messiah Who came in the flesh, reversed the Ichabod of the past, by bringing our Heavenly Father’s glorious presence to sinners in grace and truth.
Finally in Revelation 21:3–23 Johns’ vision describes the future where “the glory of God illuminates” the heavenly city and Ichabod will never happen again.
There are always lessons for us today, things we can apply to our lives from the accounts we read, and self-examination is a must. Congregations and local assemblies must guard against a showy outward posture, while inward holiness is being neglected. Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. Pastors and all those in leadership roles have a solemn and serious responsibility to be models of reverence and integrity; the warning from Ichabod is that an entire fellowship can suffer, if they fail in their god-given roles and duties.

When Israel’s sin obscured the Father’s manifested glory, Ichabod was the result proving that we should never presume on His divine presence. The name Ichabod, as both a caution and a catalyst echoes consistently through Scripture, highlighting the horrible reality of life without the presence of the Father’s glory, while directing our focus to the promised return in the Messiah. The heartfelt cry “Where is the glory?” is answered at the cross and empty tomb, where the Glory of our Heavenly Father radiates from the face of Messiah Jesus Christ/Yeshua haMashiach and will never depart from His redeemed people.
What is righteousness? As disciples we are to boldly proclaim the good news of righteousness and it seems to be one of the most difficult things for us to do, not because we don’t want to, but because we don’t actually know the good news of righteousness; and instead of telling His truth we end up expressing our own opinions.
David said he had proclaimed the good news of righteousness in the assembly Ps. 40:8-10. He was human like us, a mortal man and subject to temptations and sin. So how did he know what is right? He writes that he didn’t conceal Gods kindness and truth, but how did he know that what he ‘revealed’ was the truth and kindness of God? We looked at David having a heart after God last post, and the key to his life was that in his innermost being, his spirit, he delighted in doing Gods’ pleasure and Gods’ Word was in his innermost heart. Sometimes our outward actions in the flesh, are not reflecting the innermost being of our spirit and what we really think and believe. To our minds, truth is relative, and an elusive concept which has formed from our own experiences; and is the reason why we must renew our minds with His Word.

Even scripturally based ideas can turn into what we consider ‘truth’ as an individual. This is why it’s difficult to find agreement within Christian groups/denominations, because we interpret Gods’ truth through our own filters of experience; and this puts us at a distance from other believers.
The Word of God is absolute Truth, it’s our primary and only source of authority. Anything outside, underneath, on top, or beside scripture, is not truth. Words in books, even if they are from famous individuals, are just peoples ideas, and we need to ask the hard question; are we willing to obey the word of God without first sifting it through our experiences thoughts and opinions? Will we delight only in His pleasure, hiding not His kindness and truth; even when the pressures of the worlds opinions and societies standards of being politically correct have compromised Gods Truth?
Alternate lifestyles have become more than blurred, they are now in plain view, with blatant disregard for the Biblical guidelines and directions given in scripture for living a godly life. These options and choices have crept into so called Christian assemblies and within certain denominations, and they claim to be truth. Anything contrary to the words of our Heavenly Father, His Messiah Jesus/Yeshua and His Holy Spirit, is not truth.
The continual eating away of false doctrine and outright apostasy in backslidden attitudes and compromised behavior, has led to Ichabod, the glory has departed from many. The presence of our Fathers Holy Spirit is no longer evident and has been replaced by another spirit, which is anti messiah, anti the truth of the Word of God.

Being politically correct and not wanting to hurt the feelings of certain groups has led to a watering down of the truth and with it the loss of any voice of authority. This has lead to no visible signs, wonders and miracles which are supposed to follow them that believe after they preach the gospel. When we don’t preach truth, Gods Truth, there is no manifested presence; just fleshly, carnal, religious acts, trapped in doctrinal bondage. Let’s be those bold as lions believers, disciples who are not afraid of men’s opinions and who obey our Heavenly Father and the truth of His Word; be doers of His Word, just as the first disciples were. We are the righteousness of God in Christ, our righteousness is of Him; and we are in right standing before Him when the blood of Messiah covers us and we are filled with His spirit. When all is said and done…. only our Heavenly Father is right. Let’s not be among those who allow political correctness to cause Ichabod from our lives, our personal sanctuaries and our congregations.

After King Saul failed we read what Adonai declared in 1Samuel 13:14 4 But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”
Our Heavenly Father called David ben Yishai, ‘a man after my own heart’.
This seems a strange statement about a man who amongst other things, betrayed his best friend, committed adultery with his wife; then had him killed on purpose by sending him to the front line in battle. He was not allowed to build the Temple in Jerusalem because of the blood shed by his hands, so how is this a man after God’s heart?

We need to search the scriptures for the truth, for the correct answer according to the Fathers point of view. We have a tendency to judge by surface understanding and formulate answers by what we read and by how we see things; our perspective is not always in sync. with the Word and the mind of Adonai. We are cautioned that His ways are not our ways His thoughts are not our thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
‘After God’s heart’. We can only know the heart of God by immersing ourselves in the Word, and continually being filled with His Holy Spirit and not the spirit of this world. Ephesians 5:18. Continually being filled with the Holy Spirit is not about chasing emotional experiences but about cultivating a deep, surrendered Spirit-led life. It involves constant yielding, true spiritual submission is to live every moment under His gracious influence, allowing Him to occupy, control, and empower every facet of life so that Messiah’s life is reproduced in and through us.

Surprisingly the answer to our original question is found in the New Testament. In Acts 13:22 and 36
Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers,
Verse 36 “Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation,
David served God in his generation
and because he was
obedient
and God said
he will do everything I want;
this is why he was
a man after Gods heart.
David did what God told him to do and it was not referencing his failings in the flesh or his carnal lusts, nor when he fell into sin to satisfy his selfish desires. David did repent, however it was the fact that he accomplished the ‘work’ of the Lord in his generation. These obedient actions set the stage as it were, for the next phase of Gods plan; and Solomon, David’s son, was able to build the Temple with the preparations made by his father. David was a preparer of the Way, he was a forefather of Messiah.

The verse in Acts 13:22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
He will do everything I want him to do …that was the meaning of ‘after my heart.’ We understand the phrase with a different concept and it seems to contradict the circumstances of his sins and failings. In 1Samuel 16:7, we are told God looks at the heart, the motives, and also what we choose to do regarding instructions from our Heavenly Father. Those given by His Spirit. Are we following our own hearts, which is a common expression in this generation, or are we following God’s heart?
Can He say of us that we will do everything that He wants us to do?
Are we serving our Heavenly Father in our own generation by fulfilling His plans and purposes, or are we self serving by working for only our plans purposes and desires? What is really in our heart to do?
Our Heavenly Father has appointed a specific and unique task for each of us to perform. Are we hoping He will ask someone else to do it? He knows how He made us and He knows what He is doing. Let’s stop making excuses and serve him today, He is sending us with a message and He has equipped us to go. Romans 8:30 This principle is woven throughout Scripture, illustrating that our Heavenly Father does not necessarily call the equipped, but rather equips those He calls, enabling them to fulfill His divine will.

It may not go or unfold as we think or try to plan, because when the Lord sends us to do His will the result of our going is irrelevant; for He uses us as He sees fit and His purposes will be accomplished regardless of the outcome we expect or experience. He will do a mighty work that will glorify His Name and we are to be satisfied to do our part and to wait and watch what He will do. He will never leave us unequipped for the life we face. He hears and answers every heart cry as we rely on Him all of our days, knowing that His plans will never fail as we obediently serve the Lord in our own generation, our heart will be after God’s own heart.

Almost a year ago the post was titled
Does He See Me And Know My Ways?
In that post we examined the scripture from Psalm 139 and mentioned one of the names of our Heavenly Father, which was
El Roi.
The so-called ‘names of God’ are not like we use our names simply for identity, they are descriptive attributes revealing His spiritual characteristics and can be found throughout the Bible.
These names were often given by the individuals who had an personal and life-changing encounter with the Living God. To understand what’s in a name we need to find the first time it was used and why.
Where did this name El Roi originate?
Genesis 16:1-16 reveals the story of Abraham, Sarah and Hagar.
1Now Abram’s wife Sarai had borne him no children, but she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar 2 So Sarai said to Abram, “Look now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Please go to my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai. 3 So after he had lived in Canaan for ten years, his wife Sarai took her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to Abram to be his wife.4 And he slept with Hagar, and she conceived. But when Hagar realized that she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress. 5 Then Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be upon you! I delivered my servant into your arms, and ever since she saw that she was pregnant, she has treated me with contempt. May the LORD judge between you and me.” 6“Here,” said Abram, “your servant is in your hands. Do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she fled from her 7 Now the angel of the LORD found Hagar by a spring of water in the desert—the spring along the road to Shur. 8“Hagar, servant of Sarai,” he said, “where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I am running away from my mistress Sarai,” she replied. 9 So the angel of the LORD told her, “Return to your mistress and submit to her authority.” 10 Then the angel added, “I will greatly multiply your offspring so that they will be too numerous to count.” 11 The angel of the LORD proceeded: “Behold, you have conceived and will bear a son. And you shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard your cry of affliction. 12 He will be a wild donkey of a man, and his hand will be against everyone, and everyone’s hand against him; he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.” 13 So Hagar gave this name to the LORD who had spoken to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “Here I have seen the One who sees me! 14 Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi. It is located between Kadesh and Bered.

It was not uncommon in biblical times for people of power or status to seek children through their servants. Sarah was becoming impatient for the promise of a child to be fulfilled and suggests that Abraham has relations with her Egyptian slave girl Hagar to secure an heir. Once Hagar conceives, Hagar looks down on Sarah, who later comes to regret the entire plan. Sarah complains bitterly to Abraham, and Abraham tells Sarah to deal with her. Hagar, not wanting to put up with Sarah’s cruelty, runs away from humiliation and oppression into the desert wilderness and certain death.
An angel of the Lord meets her in the wilderness, shows her a well which provides life giving water; and tells her to return and submit to Sarah, assuring her that she, too, will be the mother of a great nation.

In response, Hagar becomes the only individual in the Bible to name our Heavenly Father: El Roi, “the God who sees me” (Genesis 16:13), or the God of seeing.
The well has been called Be’er lachai- roi meaning: well of the one who lives and sees. Or, well of the Living One who sees me.
Genesis 16:13 Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are God Who Sees”; for she said, “Have I not even here [in the wilderness] remained alive after seeing Him [who sees me with understanding and compassion]?” Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi. Amplified.
Have I really seen the One Who sees me and stayed alive?
So she named the LORD who spoke to her, “You are El-roi”; for she said, “Have I really seen God and remained alive after seeing him?”

Hagar, rejected and alone, realizes, “You are the God who sees me”. Her declaration is the earliest personal naming of the LORD since the patriarchal promises in scripture, and Roi – רֱאִי, conveys the comforting truth that there is no set of circumstances or situation that prevents our Father from seeing us right where we are. The image of the desert wilderness highlights the spiritual lesson for the reader: How and what our Heavenly Father sees everything, is not confined to covenant, land, certain ancestry, or favored lineage. As Hagar recognized the One Who “sees and looks after me,” she foreshadows the imagery of a shepherd, which was to be fulfilled in the future by Messiah Yeshua haMashiach/ Jesus Christ, Who assured His listeners that not one sparrow falls unnoticed in Matthew 10:29-31.
רֱאִי speaks of sight, appearance, or spectacle,
whether the focus is upon:
the Lord/Adonai Who beholds,
humans who observe,
or an object that becomes the focus of attention.
7210 roi: Seeing, vision, sight
Original Word: רֱאִי
Part of Speech: Noun Masculine
Transliteration: ro’iy
Pronunciation: roh-ee
Phonetic Spelling: (ro-ee’)
KJV: gazingstock, look to, (that) see(-th)
NASB: appearance, seeing, seen, sees, sight, spectacle, who
Word Origin: [from H7200 (רָאָה – see)]
1. sight
2. (abstractly) vision
3. (concretely) a spectacle.
There are other instances where we are reminded that our Heavenly Father is El Roi, that He sees us, and is ready to intervene in our situation. One instance we are familiar with, is in Luke 13:10-17. This is where our Savior saw a woman who was in great need:
Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said, “Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.” He laid his hands on her, and she at once stood up straight and glorified God.

Unlike many others who were looking for healing and deliverance she did not come to Him, but she was there in the synagogue on the Sabbath listening to Him teaching. Yeshua/Jesus saw her and saw her physical condition and interrupted what He was doing to reach out to her and bring healing and restoration, changing her life and her whole future. He sees us and has great compassion for our circumstances.
He is zarith – carefully observing us…
He is never blind to our tears,
never deaf to our prayers,
and never silent to our pain.
He sees and hears our thoughts and intentions.
He sees and hears our fears and insecurities
He sees and hears our innermost being
He sees our path and desires to guide us.
He sees our needs and desires to provide for us.
He sees your eternal destiny
and He will deliver you out of your situation
and bring you into full victory.
Romans 8:28 assures us And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Be greatly encouraged as you read this because…
He sees you – He is El Roi.

Shalom, shalom mishpachah/family

In John. 13:37 Peter said to him
Lord why can I not follow You now?
There are times when we can’t understand why we cannot do what we want to do. When our Heavenly Father brings us into a time of waiting and it seems like He is not answering us, we must resist the temptation to fill this time with extra busyness and finding solutions, but instead just wait. This time of waiting may come to teach us the meaning of sanctification, that is, to be set apart from sin and made holy; or it may come after the process of sanctification has begun in order to teach us what service really means. We are never to move, before He gives us His direction and if we have the slightest doubt, then He is not guiding us. Whenever there is doubt – wait.
At first we may see clearly what the Father’s will is, it could be for example, the breaking off of a business relationship, the severance of a friendship or something else we feel is distinctly His will for us to do. We should never act on the impulse of that feeling, or the pressure to make a decision right now; if we do we’ll cause difficult situations to arise which will take years to untangle. Wait for our Heavenly Father’s timing and He will do it without any heartache or disappointment, always when it’s a question of His providential will, wait for Him to move.

Peter didn’t wait for the Lord, He predicted in his own mind when the test would come and it came where he did not expect it. I will lay down my life for your sake. Peter’s statement was honest but lacking in wisdom. Messiah answered him pinpointing the timing of the test, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied me three times. 13:38
Messiah’s words were said with a deeper knowledge of Peter than Peter had of himself. Two verses prior Yeshua/Jesus had answered him, Where I am going you cannot follow Me now but you shall follow Me afterwards. John 13:36.
This is why he couldn’t follow Yeshua/Jesus at that time, because he did not know himself or his own capabilities well enough.

Natural devotion may be enough to attract us and draw us to Him, it may cause us to feel His irresistible charm but it will never make us talmidim/disciples, true followers of Messiah. As Peter discovered, simple natural devotion will deny Jesus/Yeshua because it always falls short of what it means to truly follow Him.
And when He had spoken this He said to him, ‘Follow me’. John 21:19
Three years earlier Messiah had said ‘Follow me’, Matthew 4:19, and Peter followed with no hesitation. The irresistible attraction of Jesus/Yeshua was upon him and he didn’t need the Holy Spirit/Ruach haKodesh, to help him do it. Later he came to the place where he denied Jesus/Yeshua and he was heartbroken. After he repented, he received the Fathers’ Holy Spirit and Messiah said to him again, ‘Follow me’. John 21:19. Now there was no one in front of Peter except the Lord. The first follow me was nothing mysterious, it was simply an external following but now He was asking for an internal sacrifice and yielding.
Between these two times, Peter denied Messiah with oaths and curses. Matthew 26:69-75. But then he came completely to the end of himself and all his self sufficiency, pride and arrogance and there wasn’t any part of himself that Peter would ever rely on again. In this state of brokenness, he was finally ready to receive all that the risen Messiah had for him. He breathed on them and said to them ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’. John 20:22.

No matter what changes the Lord has performed in us we should never rely on them or on people, we must build only on one person, the Lord Jesus Christ/Yeshua haMashiach and on the Holy Spirit/Ruach haKodesh He gives. Most all of our promises and resolutions end in denial because we eventually realize that in ourselves we have no power to accomplish them. When we come to the end of ourselves, not just mentally but completely, we are able to receive His Holy Spirit/Ruach haKodesh. The picture of receiving His Holy Spirit/Ruach haKodesh has the idea of being invaded, filled up by infusion, and when that occurs there is only One Who directs the course of our lives, the Lord Jesus Christ/Yeshua haMashiach.
Acts 26:17-18. I now send you to open their eyes that they may receive forgiveness of sins. Summed up in the words of this verse is the Fathers first sovereign work of grace/chen, and in all of the Brit Chadashah/New Testament, these words are the greatest example of the true essence of the message carried by a follower, a true disciple of Yeshua haMashiach. When an individual fails in his or her personal ‘Christian life’, it’s usually because they have never received anything. The only sign that a person is saved is that they have received something from Messiah.

Our mission as His true followers and ministers of His gospel, is to open peoples eyes so that they may turn themselves from darkness to His light. However, that is not salvation, it is conversion, being only the effort of an awakened human being. Today it may be a true statement to say that the majority of those who call themselves ‘christians’ are this way; their eyes are open, but they have not received anything and conversion is not regeneration, sadly this is often a neglected fact in many who preach. When a person is born again from above by the Holy spirit of the living God, they know it beyond a shadow of a doubt because they have received something from our Heavenly Father, and not just because of their own decision. People make promises and vows and may be determined to follow through, but none of this is salvation; because salvation means that we are brought to the place where we are able to receive something from the Father on the authority of Jesus Christ/ Yeshua haMashiach which is.. forgiveness of sins. This is followed by the Fathers second wonderful work of grace/chen…’an inheritance among those who are sanctified…Acts 20:32 ‘ In sanctification the one who has been born again deliberately gives up his/her right to him/herself to Messiah and identifies themselves entirely with the Fathers’ ministry to serving others.
Most of our new years resolutions are external things we want to give up, Messiah Yeshua/ Jesus is now asking for an internal sacrifice and yielding. John 21:18. Are we ready to come to the end of ourselves and be true followers of the One Who gave up the right to Himself. When we are true followers then He can send us.
