Begin At His Beginning – B’reshiyt

As mentioned in the last post we are at the start of the annual weekly scripture portions reading through Tanakh comprising the Torah, the Haftorah and the Brit Chadashah/Re New-ed Covenant/Testament.

So we should therefore…

Youngs Literal Translation

The Word was there

B’reshiyt – in the beginning,

at the shaping of the heavens and the earth.

The Word was with God and the Word was God.

Without Him not even one thing existed

for it was through Him He spoke and

all things came into being.

Millennia later that same Word

was made flesh and lived among us.

Here was the Son, the Father as He spoke, and His Spirit was present descending in the same way a fluttering dove would hover just as He had overshadowed Mary several decades previously.

there is an excellent transliteration site

Emptiness and the deep gave way to substance;

and darkness gave way to light.

Nothingness obeyed the Word

and responded to the authority of His will.

Then creation stumbled in humanity, in us,

when humanity heard the Word,

substance became nothingness

and light reverted to darkness.

It should give us pause for thought when

nothingness can hear and obey!

Then why are we so stubborn?

We so often fail to both hear, to listen to His Word and do what He says!

Even nothingness was not rebellious to the Creators voice!

This heart of rebellion in the human soul echoes the words of the slyest beast of the field…

Did God say?

Did He really say?

The voice of doubt, curiosity and rebellion, seeks a compromise of His truth and in the very question, undermines the authority of His Sovereignty in our lives. These doubts attack our convictions and then we consider other things that amount to nothing more than deceptive seducing lies; then we begin to entertain thoughts concerning them…and eventually believe the error.

He has given each of us

the power to choose when we hear His Word.

To listen and obey,

or to ignore,

separation from the Father is the inevitable result.

Sin will always challenge the Word

BUT

the good news is

we have been created anew

and have been given New Life in Messiah

and been granted rulership over sin.

We are new creatures in His image and likeness

and have the power in Yeshua/Jesus

to turn from sin and darkness.

Halleluyah!

In Hebrew Bereshit or B’reshiyt

is the first word of the 1st book of the Bible/Tanakh.

And so the title is its’ beginning.

(His Torah being the first 5 books attributed to Moses).

The very first letter of the 1st word is

B

in the Hebrew alefbet

Bet/Beit/Beyt

and herein is the 1st revelation/revealing

of Adonai/Yehoveh/YHVH.

This letter Bet or Beit means house.

Some scholars point out that the letter itself is composed of

3 x the letter shape of the letter vav

(our letter V as in vine).

Bet is also used for the letter V, vet without the dot.

Vav represents the number 6

which is considered the number of man.

Side note: 3×6! Sounds familiar?

Revelation 13:18 says,

Here is wisdom.

Let him who has understanding

calculate the number of that beast,

for the number is that of a man;

and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

Vav Vav Vav

not to forget a previous post on who has our vav!

In the letter B,

is then the sum of 3×6=18

and is the same numerical value

as that of the word for LIFE – Chai.

This could be said as:

the house of creation is then the life of the universe?

The same word Bet

also has another function

in the Hebrew language

and means IN.

This suggests our Creators intention of

living/abiding

withIN this realm He created.

This voice/Kol,

that He spoke,

reveals the glorious power of the creation of the universe

by His spoken Word

and in a way reveals the threefold nature of Yehoveh by the use of the plural ElohIM and the word bara He created; which we noted earlier that all 3 were present at Yeshua/Jesus’ immersion.

Let’s take a moment to remember

our bereshiyt, our beginning,

the day we were forgiven,

redeemed,

cleansed,

delivered from darkness

and brought into His glorious light.

The day we repented of our sin

accepted His free gift of salvation and eternal life;

cleansed and restored to fellowship/relationship with Him.

We are made clean by His redeeming Blood and

the washing of the water of the Word.

This was the moment

Our Heavenly Father

said/spoke

to each of us:

Know of a certainty that Jesus/Yeshua is

your Redeemer, Savior, Lord

and soon returning King

and that you have a personal relationship with Him.

You are greatly loved and precious in His sight.

It’s all about Life and Relationship, not Religion.

NOT SURE? YOU CAN BE..

SAY THE FOLLOWING FROM YOUR HEART RIGHT NOW…

Heavenly Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus asking for forgiveness of my sins for which I am truly sorry. I repent of them all and turn away from my past.

I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is your Son and that He died on the cross at calvary to pay the price for my sin, so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Father I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you to come into my life right now and be my personal Savior and Lord and I will worship you all the days of my life. Because your word is truth I say that I am now forgiven and born again and by faith I am washed clean with the blood of Jesus. Thank you that you have accepted me into your family in Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Paradox – The Echad of Elohim?

The first 3 words of the first book of Genesis are: B’resheet bara elohim. – In the beginning God

אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם אֱלֹהִ֑ים בָּרָ֣א בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית

אֱלהִים Elohim (el-o-heem’) is a plural word IM. There are various interpretations of the word Elohim but this is not the main focus this post; however to briefly recap. One meaning of Elohim/elohiym is God, or because its plural in the Hebrew text, it reads gods.

Strong’s Concordance number: 430.  the (TRUE) God,  הוא האלהים   Yahweh is (the) God. Deuteronomy 4:35,39

First Bible reference: Gen. 1:1 and over 2300 times. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1, KJV)

’Elohim is the plural of ’Eloah.

It places more emphasis on God’s strength, might, and power.

Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative. KJV Usage: angels, (gods) divine (1), divine being (1), exceedingly (1), God (2326), god (45), God’s (14), goddess (2), godly (1), gods (204), great (2), judges (3), mighty (2), rulers (1), shrine* (1).

Paleo-Hebrew Amazing Meanings of Letters in Bereshyt!

The mystery here is that in the Hebrew language, when we see a plural word, ending in IM, it is telling us there is something deeper behind the nouns and the verbs used in the text.

It’s telling us there is something profound about the reality behind the word itself.

Important note:

All the subjects and content are all so far reaching they cannot be fully covered within the limits of a single post. Rather they are all tips of the iceberg and designed to encourage further personal study and all are encouraged to dig further into the word of God for themselves and to check out the validity of what is discussed. It’s not a matter of being right or wrong but of seeking the truth: who is the express person of Jesus/Yeshua. The whole of scripture points to Messiah Yeshua, Jesus Christ the anointed son of the living God.

It’s often hard to find a stopping point and as always some details have to be left out. As everything is so interconnected, it is only as Ruach Hakodesh gives inspiration, can the posts flow and reveal patterns within texts, with which we are so familiar and thought we knew and understood. It’s not that what we knew, was, or is, wrong; it is the line upon line, precept upon precept thinking of the Hebrew mind, that there are levels of understanding. All are correct, it is always the Father, adding to and revealing more of Himself in His Word.

This post is no exception and many have questioned. How is God one, yet three at the same time? The Trinity is a common reference to the image of a triune God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost/Spirit.

Here is a look at a possible way to understand this concept.

These are some thoughts to ponder and stir our hearts to know Him in a more personal and deeper way, everything is to direct us to the Father in Jesus/Yeshua’s Name by the power of His Holy Spirit.

No apologies for repeating some pertinent statements, as that’s the way we all learn; and not least because this may be the first post for some, and will make little sense if previous ones have not yet been read. So please bear with seeming repetitions.

His ways are not ours and this is most relevant in our western ways of thinking and doing. God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel and is the God of the Hebrews so we should look at the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith.

Studying the Hebrew culture to understand the Bible better. Holy days, manners, thinking, concepts, customs, and daily life at the time of Messiah Jesus/Yeshua.

Here we need to understand that not only is Gods way of thinking and doing not ours, but our Greek western mindset and how we perceive things, is also at odds with the Hebrew mindset that came from the Father. This being the case, it would behoove us to gain a little insight and get some understanding of what HE IS SAYING if we are to begin to obey. Get wisdom get understanding.

The wisdom is not based on the worlds wisdom and common sense as James 3 states:

15. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

However, on the wisdom of Ruach HaKodesh.

‘But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.’

James 3:17 The wisdom from above. He noted that, bitter jealousy and selfish ambition, can wreck any relationship, including those in a family, however he was equally convinced that true wisdom comes from above, and that divine wisdom will surely shape our souls in ways that create peaceful, generous living. Full of Shalom.

A brief look at the way the Greek mindset is at odds with the Hebraic mindset. For we are to renew our minds not in accordance with the ideologies of the Greek, Hellenistic world, but with the Word of God. Rom.12:2

Briefly, our old thinking and old behavior has to change. Let this mind be in you .. renewed by the washing of the word.. then we will have the mind of Messiah, for He was the Word made flesh.

Hebrew Concept of Knowledge is:

Right Acting Leads To Right Thinking.

From: Action – Reflection – Embodiment – Mentoring – Modeling.

We often end up with new thinking and old behavior blending the Greek mindset and not depending on, thinking our way into a new way of acting, because the Greek concept of knowledge is:

Right Thinking Leads To Right Acting’ and everything comes from the Academy,(Academia/Education), Information, Ideas, Conferences and Books.

For the Greek mind, new thinking and new behavior comes from the action of learning – as opposed to the Hebrew mind which as a disciple who is ‘doing’ first, vs. the Academy WAY (academic).

Yes, we need to study to show ourselves approved but to be Hebraic, it must be action first. Hear and DO.

The Hebraic thinking is: we act our way into a new way of thinking!

In Hebrew, our Education begins with knowledge of God.

In Greek, knowledge of man.

In Hebrew, the Essential quality is holiness of God; (set-apart to Him).

In Greek the aim is transference of knowledge.

In Hebrew, Education is for all the people.

In Greek it’s for the privileged, the wealthy and for leisure classes.

In Hebrew, Education’s purpose is to develop the whole person.

In Greek it’s focus is on personal aptitudes and talents (self-improvement like body beautiful, etc.).

In Hebrew the reason why we learn, is to revere God.

In Greek, we learn just to comprehend with no further action.

In Hebrew the object to learn, is to know God and submit to the authority of His Word.

In Greek the object is to know thyself!

Rom.12:2 is saying, don’t copy the behavior and customs and the WAYs of the world, but let God transform us into a new person; (a new creature 2 Cor.5:17), by changing the WAY we think.

This is truly only possible, if we are thinking with a Hebrew mind – like Jesus/Yeshua. (No wonder some of the scriptures are hard to both understand and emulate!)

One interpretation is that the word, ElohIM, is revealing that no matter how much we think we know of God there’s always more. There is no end, He is infinite and beyond amazing, more than wonderful, more than beautiful, more in every way. He is Avinu, Yeshua, Ruach HaKodesh and yet He is ONE – Echad …

How is that possible?

How can He be One of many?

The Echad of Elohim – seems like a paradox!

The Bamidbar of Echad, the number of one.

Perspectives of Echad – equations and dimensions.

Echad – Is God’s ‘oneness’ explained BY a math equation? …What???

Debarim – Deut. 6:4; Mark 12;29.

A definition of ECHAD…

Oneness and strength derived from twisting and binding together.

An example is seen in the threads of a rope. Although varying in size and thickness, when twisted together they form one single continuous rope; which derives its strength from it’s fibers, twisting against themselves.

The tzit tzit of the Tallit is an example too, especially with its meanings.

Hear, understand and obey Israel, Yahveh is your God, His majesties. Yahveh is echad (one) Deuteronomy 6:4

The roots of our faith are undoubtedly in the land of Israel. Jesus/Yeshua, was a Jewish man of Israelite descent and of the line of David and Judah. God was of course His father, Messiah Himself told us to love the Lord our God. He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind;” and “your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27

We are not required to become Jewish or to convert to that faith, in doing so one would have to deny Jesus/Yeshua is the Messiah.

Jesus/Yeshua said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Matt 22:37

It all begins with our heart/leb or lev. When our heart is turned away from the Lord by sins such as are subtly disguised by the enemy in preoccupations, and love for worldly things; our heart is covered by a veil, and we can’t see or reflect the Lord. When we turn our heart to the Lord within us, the veil is removed, and we can see the glorious Messiah.

https://www.minimannamoments.com/because-9/

To Love God with All our Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength means to make Him our greatest treasure. This gives us the desire to value our relationship with Him, over and above anything and everything else in our lives.

Jesus/Yeshua was quoting Deuteronomy and the 10 sayings or 10 commandments. (Which were a list incorporating other guidelines for living a holy -kadosh- set apart – life).

This portion of Torah is a declaration of faith. It is a call to love the Lord your God and have no other gods before Him.

It is contained within a short prayer, said daily by most Jews. It’s called the SHEMA and is taken from the first word of the prayer meaning, hear, in Hebrew.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is ONE.

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength”

Hear O Israel the Lord is our God the Lord is ONE. Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever.

Sh’ma Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai ECHAD.

It’s a unifying statement that conveys loyalty to God, the Torah, (Bible: first 5 books), to Israel, and to all the principles, values and commandments in the Bible.

As the Jewish Bible does not include the New Testament there is no specific mention of Jesus/Yeshua here, just God.

Shema means; hear, listen and obey. It is pronounced shem-ah’. Strongs 8086

Echad pronounced ekh-awd’ means ONE, alike, alone and it can mean unique, unit and united.

Strongs 259 God is ONE God here.

The Hebrews reverence the name of God very seriously and they do not pronounce it or say it flippantly and mostly never at all. The letters YHVH or YHWH (Yaweh) are said to not be known in how exactly they should be pronounced.

The name was only spoken one day a year by High Priest and now no one is certain how to pronounce it. Maybe that’s a good thing as we say god, so many times and so loosely, even reducing it to letters o m g. (It’s questionable as to which god it is referring?)

Two extremes, one group won’t voice the name due to deep reverential respect and often simply saying the words ‘the name’ which in Hebrew is ‘ha shem.

The other group texting in slang with 3 letters. Our glib use and disrespectful references show a lack of understanding concerning the ONE whose name we invoke. Small comfort to true believers is that the god to which they refer, is probably not the same God that we do.

God is ONE however. Referred to by Himself and other places in the scriptures, where His attributes and character are described, e.g.

Here in Deut. 6:4, God is Echad – One. He exists as ONE and yet He exists as 3… so how can 3 be1?

He is one being yet 3 entities that are connected through the Lord by the Lord in the Lord. (Here are some dimensions.)

1+1+1 we know as Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

Avinu – Yeshua – Ruach HaKodesh

and they do not exist independently of each other. Jesus/Yeshua, was very clear on that point: I and my father are ONE/ECHAD. John 10:30.

He also promised, when I go I will send the comforter. John 16:7.

Ruach HaKodesh comes when Jesus/Yeshua goes.

I can do nothing of Myself but the Father that DWELLETH in Me, He doeth the works. John 5:19.

Rather they exist BY the other.

They co-operate, co-exist, are ONE unit but 3 compartments.

Wisdom, ruach and Yeshua were present with the Father at creation the Word says they have always existed.

There was a moment, (and the only one instance recorded), in the New Testament. Here all 3 – ECHAD – were manifest at the same time. This is my beloved SON in whom I am well pleased..

and the RUACH came down on Him.

Matt. 3:17; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:32.

God is spirit, light, energy, like electricity. (People tell of tingling sensations and feeling heat when receiving prayer – like the effects of electrical power.) Pulses of light energy flow constantly from Him, He is the life force of the universe.

Revelation 4:5 tells us that lightning comes from His throne, the place of His presence. And…

Rays of light [stream] from his hand. That is where his power is hidden. And a brightness appeareth as the light; Rays hath He at His side; And there is the hiding of His power.

His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, And there is the hiding of His power. Hab. 3:4

So as a being of light and energy, He can easily be everywhere all at the same time. Omnipresent and omnipotent.

Omni means all; of all things: “omniscient”

Word Origin and History for omni – word-forming element meaning “all,” from Latin omni- , combining form of omnis “all, every, the whole, of every kind,” of unknown origin, perhaps literally “abundant,” from *op-ni- , from PIE root *op- “to work, produce in abundance”

Existing BY each other

In mathematics, the word BY is represented as an X sign. The symbol that means, times or multiplication and not represented as the plus sign (+ addition).

So to reveal the mystery, we need to change the ‘math’ and the equation of

1+1+1 which =3

to

1x1x1 which is = to 1!

Have we simply made the mistake of adding God up to 3??

(my ways are higher than your ways)

and if so, then we make another math mistake of adding God together with us – meaning 2 separate lives 1+1=2 giving the picture of living side by side; co-habiting kind of living. When we should apply the same x principle and God x us is to say 1×1=1Echad. We are so blended with Him we are ONE.

However the scriptures speak of living IN – ABIDING IN – the Lord.

1 Cor. 8:6. Abiding has the Hebrew thought of make to abide, continue, cause to, make to, dwelling, ease self, endure, establish, fail. A primitive root; properly, to sit down (specifically as judge.)

Strong’s Hebrew: 3427. יָשַׁב

(yashab) — to sit, remain, dwell

(yaw-shab’) יָשַׁב

Signifying progressively to “await,” “remain,” “lodge,” “sojourn,” “dwell,” “continue,” “endure”.

Abiding in Christ/Messiah, is not a feeling or a belief, but something we do. (The Hebrew mind-set).

It means to “remain” or “stay” and entails far more than the idea of just continued belief in the Savior.

We are to dwell in the secret place, this will cause us to be/remain stable in the place of hiding. See post

https://www.minimannamoments.com/the-season-of-our-hiding/

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

BY the Lord and Through the Lord and He By us and through us.

It’s not us that produces fruit, but Him in and through us. We cannot do it and we cannot produce fruit of the spirit; only He can. And that’s how people see Him in us, not us doing the works. This is where we stumble and get it wrong and strive to do things, when we need to get out of God’s way. That’s the dying to self and to our works, our flesh and what we think we are doing FOR Him – that’s not what Jesus/Yeshua taught.

Again we need to go back and find out what did Messiah actually tell us to do? Shema – listen and obey.

The thing with the Shema and ONE God, is that it really, logically and mathematically, is correct. 1x1x1=1

1 by 1 by 1 = 1

1 God x 1 Jesus/Yeshua x 1 Ruach haKodesh are all part of the same 1. He is ONE – Echad

Could the secret of the life of victory be in a mathematical symbol? Simply change the equation from + to x?

It’s all a matter of perspective. We are trying to live, next to God, when we should be living BY and through Him and Him BY and through us as ECHAD/ONE. We are simply a channel, we are to employ His existence in order to truly exist. To live BY (X) and through His life/lives- Chaim.

Both natural, (physical) and spiritual, coexisting, just as Yeshua/Jesus did.

He came to show us how to live BY, (X), His life and to move in His moving BY, (X), the power of the spirit and to love BY (X) His love and it’s how we shall become ONE – ECHAD BY Him.

Not by adding Him, (+), to us but by multiplying 1×1=1.

It’s Him in us. It’s Him merged, melded, blended together with us. So much so, that people do not see us, they see Him.

It’s Him loving BY and through us – doing the work in, BY and through us.

Yeshua/Jesus understood, He said, I and the father are one/echad. John 14:6. John 10:30. He does the works. I must be about my fathers business; (not His own business). Whose business are we occupied with?

Why are we trying to do it some other way, usually our way? ‘God understands’ we say? Jesus said my sheep hear (and obey) My voice. They come in the door, BY Me and not by another WAY. He came to teach us, to show us how and so often we miss it and it may explain why some things seem so hard?

Are we still trying to to do things FOR God instead of BY God? Could this be a reason for the statement He will make…  I never knew you? We did all these things in your name! Yes we did – and not the Father in/by us, x, doing the works. If we are yielded vessels then He can use us. He promises that if we lose our life we will find it.

If we can get hold of the ‘math’, and live with 1x1x1 = Father, Yeshua, Ruach – the Echad of Elohim in us, through us and BY us, we will live By the x. And x usually marks the spot!

A little more perspective reveals that this is possibly the dynamic of miracles. 1×1 His power BY us = His power x us.

He is the original mathematician – numbers are in the Genesis of His creation. Bamidbar.

He is the original scientist, physicist, engineer, electrician, etc. etc. He is the genesis of omni and He is echad. He is chaim – with Him and X Him we are one /echad.

And its how we reconnect to the source of chaim/lifes. This is the secret to the victorious life of a believer for if all things were made BY Him and nothing was not made other than BY and FOR Him then if we do not resist His presence, we cannot fail. For He cannot fail and we are in Him from the beginning – Genesis – B’resheet -בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית

1×1 The dynamic of miracles, His power BY us.

Bringing us full circle! Alef to Tav! Genesis to Revelation – Beginning to End.

Yeshua/Jesus gave us the WAY, we just need to have our eyes opened and see what’s been right in font of us the whole time… ‘and seeing they do not see’.

We need to stop looking with the natural eyes, and look instead with the eyes of our spirit, for it is said, real eyes realize real lies and truth opens the eyes of our understanding – our leb/heart.

(It puts another spin on the old chorus, ‘in the sweet BY and BY!’ Maybe the writer knew something too!)

Mysteries Secrets – A Prophetic Plan Revealed

‘Once Upon A Time….’                                                                are often the first words to a made up story. In many ways the end for us as believers is simply, the beginning.

We are at the Beginning of the annual scripture readings followed throughout Israel. They start following the last of the Biblical 7 Appointed Times of God / 7 Feasts of Israel, looked at in previous post.

https://www.minimannamoments.com/sheltering-presence-god/This is a perfect time to remember the first word of our real HIStory is B’RESHITE, or the more familiar GENESIS.It is Pronounced be-re-sheet and means,

In The Beginning. However, it means much more than beginning it means at the start of or ‘at the head of all things’ in the sense that it is the beginning, but also infers

that

the Head Creator planned each step

which

began as a

THOUGHT.

Here the Mystery of The Gospel is within Genesis.

Also spelled Bereshit, Bereishit, Bereishis, B’reshith, Beresheet, or Bereishees. It is most appropriately the title of the first weekly Bible scripture reading or Torah Portion, which in Hebrew it is called, The Parashah.

Sometimes titled Sefer Rishon – the First Book or Sefer Ben’at Ha’olam – The Book of the Creation of the world.

For readers convenience all the scripture references (Torah Portions) to follow through the Bible in a year are listed on a single page and can be accessed from MMM Homepage or https://www.minimannamoments.com/weekly-readings-to-take-us-through-the-bible-in-a-year/

The first letter B at the Beginning of this word gives revelation.Literally: Son God Destroy Hand Cross!B in the Hebrew alphabet (aleph-bet) is the letter BetBet means house and its shape is composed of three Vav’swhich add up to the number 18 (Every Hebrew letter also has a numerical value see charts and information also available on Home page or click on the links below:)

the same value for the word chai or life.Chai, (living / ḥay) is a Hebrew word that figures prominently in the culture of modern Israel; the Hebrew letters of the word are often used as a visual symbol.

The word is made up of two letters of the Hebrew Alphabet –  forming the word chai –  ח  Chet  and  י Yod , meaning: lifealive, or living.

The most common spelling in Latin script is Chai. (Tea lovers may notice the name of their favorite drink!)

In Hebrew, the related word chaya means living thing or animal, and is derived from the Hebrew word chai (חי), meaning life.

The Jewish toast is l’chaim, to life.

Chaya feminine, Chayim masculine
The house of creation is then the life of the universe. Bet also has a pre-fixative function meaning ‘in’.

Suggesting God’s intention of abiding within the realm of creation. In this first weeks schedule, the portion opens with this statement about the creative activity of God.In the beginning God created the heavens and earth Genesis 1:1

The Scriptures actually begin not from the 1st person perspective of some man’s understanding of God but from an omniscient 3rd person perspective, a voice (קול) (sound, voice, noise pronounced Kol),
that reveals the glorious power that created the entire cosmos by means of His Word. דבריו

John 1:1-3 In the Genesis was the WORD and the Word was with God and the Word was God He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

John 1:14 The Word Became Flesh and dwelt among us.

Proverbs 3:19  By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place;

The very 1st verse reveals the nature of God as being triune, which is also indicated where the plural form of The Name is used as Elohim with the singular verb used bara. Meaning, He, (God), created.Later in verse 26 we read (Hebrew reads from right to left)and it’s a direct quotation from Elohim that uses plural personal pronouns.

  1. Va•yo•mer Elohim na•a•se a•dam be•tzal•me•noo kid•moo•te•noo ve•yir•doo vid•gat ha•yam oov•of ha•sha•ma•yim oo•va•be•he•ma oov•chol-ha•a•retz oov•chol-ha•re•mes ha•ro•mes al-ha•a•retz.

  2. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.

Stopping for a moment to realize what a breathtaking statement this is in the opening line of the Scripture. We also see it is shrouded in mystery as the Bible describes how Elohim created the universeyesh me’ayin יש מעיין

(ex nililo-) לשעבר

(over a 6 day period,)out of מתוך nothingness האין .Who else can create out of nothingness?
The end of this action was a stunning creation of a human being–

betzelem elohim in the image of Elohim אלוקים Himself.

בצלם אלוקים

The introduction to the 1st day of creation is with a vision of the Earth as להם זכויות tohu vavohu     ווהו טוהו   without form and void,

and the spirit of Elohim is seen hovering over the waters.

Following this we read the first direct quotation of Elohim:– Yehi Or!Let there be light!  We are then told that Elohim saw that the light was good (tuv טוב), and He separated it from the darkness (חושך choshekh), adding that Elohim called the light (אור or), day (יום Yom la or) and the darkness (חושך choshekh), night (לילה lay’lah). This was the ending of the 1st day.

Here is another great mystery – the mystery of the 1st day. It suggests some sort of divine designation of good and evil, light and darkness, connected to the creation and division of time. Before He created the specific Light/Or,
it was the Shekinah Glory of God The criteria for determining the start of each day is at Sundown / erev rather than at sunrise / boker. In Israel today and everything to do with the Hebraic Jewish calendar is based on this scripture that Elohim declared.

And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. Vaihi erev vaihi voker yom echad.
It should give us pause to question why it was ever changed, especially if we believe that God always knows best!

A brief overview of the following days:

Genesis 1:1–2:3

Dividing the upper waters from the lower waters Elohim formed the canopy (חופה) above the Earth.

Some scholars believe that the waters above were in the form of solid ice! We know outer space is freezing cold and even from a commercial plane at 36,000 feet and the outside temperature at that height is -57° C (-71° F)!This may also explain another suggestion that before the flood, the sky above looked more pink than blue from earths surface. The thick layer of ice may have caused the suns rays to reflect through it as a prism altering it.

On the 2nd day and called the physical canopy heaven (שָׁמַיִם Sha•ma•yim).

Va•yik•ra Elohim la•ra•kia Sha•ma•yimOn day 3, He set the boundaries of the land (ארץ eretz) and seas (יםמי Yahm) and called forth trees and seed bearing vegetation from the earth.

Elohim fixed the position of the Sun, Moon and stars on the 4th day as a way to establish both the times and seasons (יםדענמ), (including His 7 Appointed Times/Feasts), and to be a source of illumination to the earth. On the 5th day, the fish birds and reptiles were created and received the first personal blessing from Elohim.
On day 6 Elohim created land animals and finally a human being (betzelem elohim בצלם אלוקים) from the dust of the earth.  Dust (ah-vahk   קבא)His sanctified the 7th day as He ceased His work and designated it as a day of rest.

  1. Vay•chal Elohim ba•yom hash•vi•ee me•lach•to asher asa va•yish•bot ba•yom hash•vi•ee mi•kol-me•lach•to asher asa.

  2. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.

The word Shabbat is derived from this word.

In Genesis 2: we are given a closer look at the creation of Adam and that Elohim also has a personal nameYHVH  הוהי yod hay vav hay  the sacred name of God, that is, the Lord.Literally: Son  God  Destroy  Hand  Cross!

For many scholars it is generally believed that Elohim is the name given as the creator of the universe. This name implies justice and power where as His personal name expresses the idea of the Creator’s closeness to us.
This can be better explained where we read that it is YHVH who breathed into Adam’s nostrils the breath of life to become a living soul, (betzelem elohim) formed him from the dust of the earth.

Va•yi•tzer Adonai Elohim et-ha•adam afar min-ha•ada•ma va•yi•pach be•a•pav nish•mat cha•yim vay•hi ha•adam le•ne•fesh cha•ya.And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils (מ ש) the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

The life-force is not a result of organic material, it is from God. Neshemah chayim = breath of life.

Chayyim is plural (literally lives, not life) Elohim is plural.

Are Soul and Spirit the same thing?

Chayyim hints that God put into Humans more than one kind of life.

From Mary’s physical body she put forth a song of Praise in Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.

Nephesh = breath. This cannot be the plural of majesty – it must be the plural man? God breathed lives into Adam? Breath and being are a supernatural thing, and they come from God, outside our three dimensional realm. Evolution teaches against this concept, that life is an accident. Microbes, germs, etc – are not included with animals in the animal kingdom.  Food for thought!

Va•yi•ta Adonai Elohim gan-be•Eden mi•ke•dem va•ya•sem sham et-ha•adam asher ya•tzar

and the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

In the Garden of Eden (Gan Eden)was
the tree of life (etz ha-chayim)as well as the tree  of knowledge of good and evil(etz ha-da’at tov vara).Adam’s first responsibility before the Lord, was to work and guard the garden and to refrain from eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

He was originally created as a single individual however the Lord, (YHVH הוהי yod hay vav hay /The Name/ Hashem), decided it was not good for him to be alone, so He had all of the animals pass before Adam to see what he would call themAdam’s ability to name them was by divine inspiration, as he incorporated in their name a subtle description of their very essence, characteristics and functions. Example below:

Genesis 2:19-20 “And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them:

and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field;” … (KJV)

This all happens before the creation of Eve in Genesis 2:22 and before the fall as described in Genesis 3:6

Looking in Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary at a few Biblical Hebrew names for common animals we find;

Thus we see that the names derive from observable physical characteristics of the animals or their observable behaviors. The cormorant is named due to its diving into the water in pursuit of its prey.

Following this amazing feat, none of the animals were a match for Adam so the Lord put him into a very deep sleep
and built a woman from his side so that she would be a helper in front of him. Ezer kenegdo.

According to scripture when he woke up, Adam was very happy and called her Ishah and they became one flesh basar echad as the very first marriage ceremony took place on earth.Shortly after 3:1 we are introduced to the serpent na•chash נָחָשׁ as the shrewdest of animals which the Lord created. The Scripture tells us the first thing the serpent said, was by way of hissing at eve the haunting question –  did God really say you shall not eat of any tree in the garden?

Tree of Life – Etz ChaimShe answered correctly.  Omitting the deadly consequences concerning the fruit of the tree of the knowledge good and evil, the hissing serpent implied that the Lord was keeping from them special insight that would cause them to be as gods.

So began the downward spiral into evil… (which is interesting if spelt backwards, is live! The word evil means literally, out of harmony with God.)

The tactics he used on her have not changed in 6000+ years. First she believed the lie, which involves our mind and our thinking. Second by looking at the fruit, she used her sight and then the action, as she took it from the tree. Lastly, in eating the fruit it resulted in the sin, which was a direct violation of God’s instruction to them. She was not alone as the Scriptures tell, Adam was with her at this time and knowingly ate the fruit offered to him. We often hear this action called the fall of man. It was in fact of enormous consequence, being an act of treason against God’s will, it resulted in them being expelled from the garden immediately and mankind came under God’s curse with the ultimate judgment being – death. The entrance to the garden and access to the tree of life was guarded by Cherubim with flaming swords so they would not eat and live forever in a fallen state. The serpent also had judgment pronounced upon him.  In doing so, the Lord prophesied that a struggle for the fate of the human race would follow. Being represented by the serpent, Satan שטן (from the Hebrew word adversary) now had illegal rights to humanity as they were now under a divine curse. But God had promised to reverse the curse by means of the seed זרע Zera the Messiah משיח the Anointed One who would crush the head of the serpent and restore mankind to his original position. The Bible comprises the complete story of redemption and describes the cosmic war to reverse the curse by means of the seed of the woman who would come and to deliver humanity from the clutches of sin and death.

The story continues citing some of the consequences of sin. How Cain murders his younger brother Abel הבל in a fit of jealous anger and is banished from his family.Abel is a biblical forename which may derive from the Hebrew Hebel, itself derived from hevel (breath or vapour), or from the Assyrian for son.

We are told of some of the descendants of Cain (קין Kayin) who followed in his evil ways, (evil = out of harmony with God), that we also hear of Adam and Eve’s third son Seth, סת meaning, compensation. Their descendants began to call on the name of the Lord and Seth had a son named Enosh ענוסה which means man, and is a clear reference of the coming bar enash / בן אדם or son of man. Daniel 7:13

Notably the 10th generation descendant of Seth was Noah נח Noe or Noach = rest

John 1:1–14  reminds us again that it is very clearly a reference to the opening words of Genesis and John identifies Jesus/Yeshua as the Word (devar מִלָּה ) of God Elohim. (Word of God מילת אלוהים) and points to the fact that He was the creative power whose command cause the entire universe to come into existence. He Jesus/Yeshua is the true light from God,  אור אמיתי מאלוהים

the Promised One who would bring truth to all the nations of the Earth and would be the fulfillment of the mission of Israel by giving birth to the seed of promise. The person of Jesus/Yeshua was the promised seed Jesus/Yeshua ben Yosef /Joseph עישו בן יוסף the Son of the Father full of Grace and Truth, and even though His own people rejected Him… it is only a temporary situation which will end and all Israel will turn to Him and be saved. Romans 9:11.This is the secret plan of YHVH.

Jesus is the mystery of the ages that God set in place, the secret plan and seed He planted in genesis (the first beginning) that He would send Himself as the Redeemer as the seed of the woman Who would crush satans head. The plan of redemption both began and ended when Jesus died over 2000 years ago, the mystery of the gospel, the Word of God, became flesh and died in our place to redeem all mankind from Adams sin, the fall. And as scripture records, if satan had known the outcome he would not have crucified the Lord of Glory. He is outwitted and defeated. Before that happens the opportunity remains for all people to become the children of God by ילדים של אלוהים personally receiving Jesus as their Savior Lord and King. Make sure we and our families have made this important decision, for once an individual accepts this invitation they become grafted into the original covenant blessing that was given to Israel.Another fascinating revelation can be seen in the letters YHVH and their meanings from the paleo Hebrew letters and a prophetic connection to Messiahs future death.because evenWe have been given the Word/Torah of Truth and the life of eternity He has implanted within us. Eternity is in our hearts in the very essence of the spirit He breathed into the red dirt that He had formed into a human soul.

There are many genesis, not just one beginning, and as one phase comes to a conclusion it simply makes way for the new beginning.

The end of His story is the (genesis) beginning, for He is the beginning (genesis) and the end… Are we ready for our next GENESIS?
